YOUR ATTENTION PLEASE FOR THE FOLLOWING SELECTIONS

Once in a while, we will post one of our selections in our 'showroom'

Here you will find extra information, like forcing time, flowers per bulb size, length of stem and more

Forcing time is difficult to measure as our greenhouse doesn't have a minimal temperature setting, and therefor as a reference, the Oriental variety 'Le Reve' is planted as well

Under normal circumstances 'Le Reve' needs about 75 days to flower after planting, so in that regard we can figure out the forcing time of the seedling in our 'Showroom.

In case you want to have additional information about the selection on this page, please send us your question('s) to our page 'Contact Us'

Another very unusual lily hybrid: Selection# 1019

Selection # 1019 already looks like a 'winner'.

These photos were taken in the field this summer.of 2023

It was very sunny, high light intensity and very warm.

Under these conditions, the flowers of many white Oriental lilies show rapidly some sun damage.

However, not with this Speciosum selection.

The flower of this hybrid remained intact until the very end.

The 'vase life tests showed that the flowers have a very long vase life.

What also came out very positively was the fragrance.

Very soft scent, which resembled sugar water.

Not like many Oriental flowers or the flowers of OTs, whose scent can come across as 'heavy'.

In such cases, the result is often that these flowers go 'outside', which is not a good advertisement for lilies.

Selection # 1019 will stay inside, where everybody can enjoy this elegant lily.

This Speciosum hybrid will make a name for itself through various uses, whether in a wedding bouquet, a mixed bouquet, by itself in a vase or in a garden; this lily can be used for anything.

The buds per small size will be higher than the average for similar varieties so in that regard a smaller size than 12/14 can also be used.

Length of the stem is also more than sufficient.

We will probably see (much) more of this Speciosum lily.

A very unusual lily hybrid this time: Selection# 953

The first variety, which started the Oriental lily boom, was 'Stargazer'.

One of its parents was a L. Speciosum hybrid.

Too bad, the fine fragrance of the L. Speciosum hybrid was not part of 'Stargazer'

Most commercial breeders continued breeding with this variety and its siblings and that didn't make the odor of the flowers go away.

It is alright when flowering outside, but not all the time when they show their flowers inside

The result was, that many times a bouquet with Oriental lilies were put outside as some people couldn't stand the heavy fragrance.

Every self respected hybridizing company tries to create new and fresh lines, which can be used in their breeding program

That is very important as well as necessary, because if you don't, soon, as a breeder, you will run into the phenomenon of in-breeding.

Doing that can be time consuming, or too hard to do, therefore some companies, who notices a lot of weaker hybrids, prefer to jump onto a hybrid from a new group.

The LA and OT group are a sample of that

Our opinion is, that an OT, although having some good qualities, are not an improvement compare to an Oriental hybrid

The inflorescence for one and what to think about its smell

That can be too heavy and for many households too much

Our opinion is, that Oriental hybrids are superior to OT's where it is concerning the forcing industry

We like to see Oriental flowers in every home and that is very much possible as long its fragrance is light, like that of a L. Speciosum lily

For that reason, one of our new lines has L. Speciosum in it, including its fragrance

Selection# 953 comes from this line of breeding

Forcing time is about 100 days

Length of stem is about 120 cm

The size of 10/12 is probably usable

12/14 will give 4 buds

As mentioned before, flowers have very nice fragrance and they don't fade

Very well deserved a spot on this page is Oriental Selection# 610

Selection# 610 is another strong lily, that can be grown without any problems.

Even, when planted very big bulbs, we haven't seen any scorch or leave burn.

The fragrance of this yellow variety is so much less compare to a yellow OT, while also the smaller bulb sizes can be used for the cut flower industry

Forcing time is about 100 day and the length of the stem 115 cm or taller

Bulb size 12/14 can give 2 to 3 flowers, which don't fade as you can see

This selection really deserves a place on this page

A very early flowering one to keep an eye on is Oriental Selection# 690

If you like speed as well as performance: Selection# 690 is waiting for you

Exactly the same forcing time as 'Le Reve' - about 75 days - but taller and sturdier

The stem in those picture is grown from scales, planted in 2019.

In that regard this is the second year after planting

Length about 120 com

The size 12/14 will give 1 to 3 flowers, which don't fade

So far we haven't seen any scorch or other weaknesses

We have many white Oriental hybrids growing at our place, but Selection# 555 is very special

Selection# 555 absolutely is a very strong hybrid, which can be grown without any problems

No scorch, even when forcing large sized bulbs

The buds of this lily stay firm till it opens

The clean white flowers will stay in your vase for a long time without any fading

Size 12/14 will give about 2 till 4 flowers

Forcing time of selection# 555 is about 105 days, while its length is about 110 cm or taller

Today, our Selection, that deserves some extra attention is: Oriental Selection# 144

Selection# 144 is a very strong lily, which can be grown without any problems.

That is not the first impression, but an observation over the years

This hybrid was selected in 2011 in our greenhouse and from that time on it hasn't shown any growth weaknesses or viruses

Before 2011, this lily was 2 years in a flat from seed and an additional 2 years in our field before selected to do the forcing tests in our greenhouse.

That makes the age of this bulb at least 12 years

Forcing time is a bout 90 days and the length of the stem is approximately 125 cm

The size of 12/14 will give at least 2 up to 4 flowers, which don't fade at all

This hybrid deserves a spot on this Page

Oriental Selection# 601

Selection# 601 is a very strong lily, which can be grown without any problem either in the field ot greenhouse

Never any visible scorch or leave burn

Although the forcing time is relatively short - about 83 to 85 days - it still gives a good bud count for smaller sized bulbs

Size 12/14 (cm) can give 3 to 5 flowers on its stem

The length is about 135 cm

This selection deserves to be in our showroom

This time our Selection is an Oriental Pot variety: Selection# 434

If you talk about fast and safe, you talk about Selection# 434

Already selected in the blooming season of 2014

Every year since that year, it performed the same: Fast, no leaf scorch and a good number od flowers, which did not fade at all.

A beauty on everyone's table

The ones in the picture are forced like the Oriental selections for cut with no growth hormone or the alike

Forcing time about 75 days

Length about 40 - 45 cm

Our opinion is that the bulb size of 12/14 (cm) will give 2 to 3 flowers.

Our Selection for this month is: Selection# 512

Selection# 512 was selected in the blooming season of 2015.

The seasons later it did so well again in the greenhouse as it did this year, so we decided to give this lily more attention via this page.

The forcing time is very fast; about the same time as 'Le Reve' ( 75 days)

The length of the stem is about 125 cm and our opinion is that the bulb size of 12/14 (cm) will give 2 to 3 flowers.

This lily is a healthy grower and so far we haven't seen any scorch when the size of the bulb was big

The length of the stem is about 125 cm

Our first Selection for the 'Showroom' is: Selection# 776

In our opinion, Sel# 776 is one of the best if not the very best white Oriental so far

The forcing time is short, about 8 days later compare to 'Le Reve'

A forcing time of about 83 to 85 days under normal circumstances

This seedling is very elegant and has nice bud color on a stem of about 50"

The bulb size of 12/14 will probably give 2 to 3 flowers

After opening, the flowers stay clean as the pollen stays on the anthers

The fragrance is moderate
